In this week's selection of films and shows on Amazon Prime, explore the culture clash that takes place in a Northern Irish town when an American bomber base is established there during World War II. An odd friendship forms between a tightly-wound midwife and her late father's free-spirited mistress. Finally, baking witches Kelly, Hannah, and Darbie race to preserve everyone's memories of magic before they're lost forever.

  • My Mother & Other Strangers - Set in Northern Ireland in 1943, this series explores a culture clash that erupts when a U.S. bomber base is established in the region around the fictional village of Moyberg. The boisterous Americans bring a host disruptions to the quite lives of the Ulster farming community, who are themselves divided by the foreign presence.
  • The Midwife - After the death of Claire's father, Claire, a midwife, meets his estranged mistress, . Béatrice. The film focuses on the unlikely friendship, contrasting Claire's more uptight nature with Béatrice's free spirit.
  • Just Add Magic - Season 2, Part 2 - Baking witches Kelly, Hannah, and Darbie become embroiled in a whodonit mystery after their magic cookbook is stolen and the magical spice cabinet is destroyed. The three must discover the identities of the past protectors before everyone loses their memories of magic forever.

Looking ahead

This week's new additions to Amazon's Prime Video lineup starts with the classic western The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, in which the Man with No Name faces off against other men looking for the same lost Confederate cash box. Mystic Pizza follows the lives of three young women, waitresses at their town's local pizzeria. Finally, in the first season of Amazon original series Absentia FBI agent Emily Byrne tries to return to a world that's moved on without her six years after being kidnapped while hunting for a dangerous serial killer.

  • The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly - The Man with No Name returns for another story as he, along with two other drifters, seek a lost Confederate cash box containing $200,000. The box, hidden in a cemetery in an unmarked grave, is the key for each man to finding a new life. Arrives February 1.
  • Mystic Pizza - This coming-of-age story follows the lives of three young women who live in the seaside town of Mystic, Connecticut, where they all waitress at the local pizzeria. The sisters face romantic tribulations and life goals that often put them at odds with one another, but their bonds remain strong. Arrives February 1.
  • Absentia - Season 1 - While tracking one of the most infamous serial killers in Boston, FBI agent Emily Byrne disappears without a trace and declared dead. Six years later, Emily is found in captivity, having no memory of her kidnapping. She must now re-enter and readjust to a world that has moved on without her. Arrives February 2.
