What to Watch

In this week's Netflix selections, the Shelby family must deal with a loss while working against the threat posed by the Italian mafia. The lives of four women are forever changed when they begin working for the National Telephone Company in Madrid. Finally, an original documentary series offers a unique look at the war on drugs through the eyes of the cops, dealers, and users caught up in it.

  • Peaky Blinders - Season 4 - Follow the continuing exploits of the Peaky Blinders gang in early 20th century Birmingham, England. The series focuses in particular on the Shelby family and their associates, with season four seeing the family reel from a loss while trying to deal with the threat posed by the Italian mafia.
  • Cable Girls - This Spanish-language drama set in 1920s Madrid follows the lives of four women and how those lives change when they start working for the National Telephone Company. The women must balance their jobs, love lives, and friendships as the world begins to change.
  • Dope - Season 1 - In this documentary series you'll get a look at the war on drugs from various perspectives as the cameras follow the dealers and cops that fight one another in this conflict, along with users.

Coming Attractions

This week on Netflix will see the release of a trio of Netflix originals, beginning with the first part of the second seson of Bill Nye Saves the World, in which Bill Nye offers fun and fascinating lessons centering on different areas of science. There's also the Netflix original movie The Climb, about a young man who seeks to climb Mount Everest to prove himself to the woman he loves, only to become a media sensation. Finally, there's Dave Chappelle: Equanimity, Chappelle's second Netflix special this year, in which the comedian performs a set about life, fatherhood, and the state of the world.

  • Bill Nye Saves the World - Season 2: Part 1 - Bill Nye returns with his Netflix original series that showcases how fun and engaging science can be. Bill welcomes scientific experts and celebrity guests alike as he performs experiments and discusses how different aspects of science impact out everyday lives. Arrives December 29. - See on Netflix
  • The Climb - In order to prove himself to the woman he loves, a young Senegalese-French man from humble beginnings sets out to climb Mount Everest, only to find himself becoming a media sensation as he makes his journey towards the top. December 29.
  • Dave Chappelle: Equanimity - Chappelle's second standup special of the year offers up brand new material, complete with hilarious reflections on life, fatherhood, self-examination, tough love, and the state of the world as 2017 comes to a close. December 31.
