In this week's selection of films and shows on Amazon Prime, a linguist attempts to bridge the divide between species when aliens suddenly arrive on Earth. Two brothers fight supernatural evil in an effort to find their missing mother and reunite their family. Finally, check out a a documentary about a German art detective who tracks missing Nazi treasures across America from the New York art underworld to a small Texas town.
- Arrival - When alien vessels suddenly arrive on Earth, the U.S. Army hires expert linguist Louise Banks to help them try and communicate with the aliens. As tensions mount around the world with different governments responding differently to the new arrivals, Banks must find a way to bridge the communication gap between the two species while dealing with her own changing perspectivel.
- Awaken the Shadowman - Two estranged brothers reunite when their mother disappears. The two battle a mysterious force in an effort to reunite their family.
- The Liberators - This documentary follows a German art detective as he tracks down missing Nazi art and treasure, exploring everything from the underworld of the New York art scene to a small town in Texas.
Looking ahead
This week's new additions to Amazon's Prime Video lineup begin with A Knight's Tale, which tells the story of a young squire who, with the help of his friends, masquerades as a knight in an effort to change his fortunes in life. There's also Up in the Air, the story of a man who loves his constant life on the road, but who finds that it might not be everything he though after a chance encounter in an airport lounge. Finally, there's The Only Living Boy in New York, an Amazon original film about a young college graduate who finds his life turned upside down by his father's mistress and an eccentric new neighbor.
- A Knight's Tale - With the help of his friends and Geoffrey Chaucer, a young lowborn man and former squire impersonates a knight in an effort to win prizes in tournaments, change his fortunes, and win the heart of a fair maiden. Arrives November 1.
- Up in the Air - A corporate downsizing guru who values his independence and life on the road meets a fellow traveler who makes him rethink his entire perspective while he trains an ambitious young woman in the way their business works. Arrives November 1.
- The Only Living Boy in New York - A recent college graduate finds his life turned upside down by a number of concurrent events, including the introduction into his life by an eccentric neighbor and the discovery that his father is having an affair. Arrives November 3.
